DONT QUIT YOUR 9-5 FOR A FULL TIME FITNESS CAREER UNTIL YOU READ THIS!

Fabila at the 2018 Shape Up Naija Fitness Carnival S o you are passionate about fitness, congratulations! The fitness industry has become increasingly attractive for people searching for entrepreneurship adventures. With the aid of Instagram and other social apps, people are often  swayed by the huge followings, likes and comments and led to believe that a career in fitness would be a walk in the park. I resigned from a decent paying 9-5 to go full-time as a fitness instructor. I have no regrets, it's been 6 years of learning and progression. However, I do see people who hurry out of the 9-5 only to hurry back in desperate need of a job! So before you decide to take that big leap and quit your 9-5, kindly pause and consider the following:

SMART SHOPPING TIPS FOR THE NIGERIAN FITNESS ENTHUSIAST

H ello Fitfam, a New Year is fast approaching and many of us would be rewriting our fitness goals for the year 2017. One question many of my clients ask is where to buy fitness equipment/accessories in Nigeria. I, like some of my clients, stock up on fitness gear when I travel overseas. Even when I do not travel, I would order from US or UK stores and have them shipped to me. It was not until when I was organizing my last years end of year fitness party and needed to urgently get some fitness items that I realized that I could buy quite a number of them in the comfort of my home using Konga . I was aware of a few stores in Surulere and Victoria Island but getting there was a hassle for me and sometimes I get there and do not even find what I need (wasted time and fuel!).

ATTEND MY NOVEMBER BREAKFAST ZUMBA FITNESS MASTERCLASS

My last breakfast zumba session was loads of fun! It was great instructing my first class postpartum. I had missed working out in a group. I was happy to see my clients as well as meet new faces. I would be having another session this Saturday, November 5th. It would be great to workout with you. Meanwhile, here are some pictures from our last session for you to enjoy!

FITNESS BENEFITS OF PLAYING SOCCER

H ello people, it has been a long time I wrote an article. 2015 has been a busy year from personal projects like planning a wedding, which by the way happened last month, August 2015, to business projects like planning the annual Shape Up Naija Fitness Carnival which is scheduled to hold on Saturday December 5, 2015.  I often feel sad when I see people struggle so much at the gym or at a horrendous bootcamp session, whilst those have their results, I often wondered if these people had some sports they loved doing. With the growing popularity of group fitness classes and gym based workouts in Nigeria, it looks like many have forgotten that staying fit can be achieved from engaging in good old sports like football, basketball, tennis or even swimming. So, no you do not have to go through those gruesome drills, you can run around for an hour on the football pitch, burn some calories and make friends in the process. Here are some benefits of playing soccer/football.

PICTURES FROM THE 2014 EDITION OF SHAPE UP NAIJA FITNESS CARNIVAL ORGANIZED BY FABILA'S FITNESS CLUB

I t was a health and fitness affair on Saturday December 13, 2014 as Fabila’s Fitness Club staged the first Fitness Carnival “Shape Up Naija” in Lagos, Nigeria. Guests arrived as early as 7:30am at the GET Arena, Victoria Island, fully kitted in their active wears. The event was what many of the guests termed “a buffet of workouts” as it featured various workout sessions from a number of talented fitness professionals from different facets of the Nigerian fitness industry. The event showcased for the first time in Nigeria, Zumba Sentao presented by Fabila, a fun high intensity workout where participants used chairs as their workout partners. Also present on the day were exhibitors who offered guests products and services ranging from fresh fruit juices, salads, beauty products, and healthy snacks. FFC FEATURE: DITCH THE GYM WORKOUT DVD

A re you too busy to attend the gym? or Are you trying to lose the holiday weight? or Do you prefer to workout in the privacy of your home? "Ditch the Gym" may just be your answer. I did the workouts a few weeks ago and I worked up a good sweat. It is great if you are a beginner and also challenging enough for the more advanced exerciser. I am particularly happy with this DVD as it is by a Nigerian, Seyi Olusore. Seyi is the brain behind Nigeria's first weight loss reality TV show "The Fastest Shedder". His 50 minutes home workout DVD "Ditch the Gym" features simple and effective routines to work your entire body. It is a complete workout programe, focusing on all components of fitness from cardio, to strength and flexibility training. The DVD is available nationwide for N1,500 on Jumia  and at So Fresh Market Nigeria on No 92 Awolowo road Ikoyi, Lagos

GYM GUIDE NIGERIA: BODY BOOST FITNESS AND HEALTH CLUB

I t's Christmas Eve!!! As a child Christmas Eve was one of my best nights. My sister and I believed in Santa Claus, so we would wait up all night to see Santa drop off our gifts, but then sleep off. I can still remember the joy I felt when I went down the next morning and saw loads of gifts under the tree. Then I had at least five gifts with my name labelled on them. But of course, I discovered Santa was my parents and my numerous aunts and uncles. As I got older, the number of gifts under the tree reduced and now I'd be shocked if I saw any present under the tree.

NIGERIA AT 53: FITNESS TRENDS SO FAR!

Happy Independence Day Nigeria!!! October 1 is usually welcomed with mixed feelings. For some Nigerians they spend the day discussing about all the trials and tribulations of the country, while some are happy because they get time off work/school, and for some others it is time to attend Independence Day Parry! (i.e.Party). On my way out today, I saw some people with their green and white themed outfits, probably going to attend some Independence Day event.
