Have you ever tried making juice from carrots, green pepper, and tomatoes? My first reaction when I saw my parents drink this mixture was “disgusting!” It is not the sweetest drink you will have, but, your body will surely thank you. Carrots are rich in Vitamin A and other important nutrients such as calcium, phosphorous, iron, sodium, potassium, vitamin B complex. Carrot juice is rich in antioxidants, which slow down the aging process, reduce the risk of cancer, help cleanse the cells of toxins and impurities, thus, ridding the skin of acne. Carrots are good for the eyes and skin. Green pepper juice is also rich in Vitamin A. Tomatoes are also very rich in antioxidants. Imagine having all of this goodness in one glass!
I tried researching if there was a generic name for this mixture but could not find one. If you are interested in trying this out, here is a quick step to preparing it.
Ingredients
(servings: 4 glasses)
Preparation:
- Rinse the carrots thoroughly to get rid of the sand, if any.
- Grate the carrots if not clean enough after rinsing.
- Rinse-off the tomatoes and green peppers too.
- Get out your juice extractor. We use the Russell Hobbs juice extractor similar to the picture above. Extract all the ingredients.
- Pour extracted mixture into a jug; add some water if you want it less concentrated.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy.
Note: there is a big difference when you use a juice extractor as opposed to a blender. A juice extractor extracts only the liquid, filtering out all of the fiber. A blender would blend it all together. Juicing allows you to get maximum nutrition from fruits and vegetables. When you juice a fruit or vegetable, you are removing the fibrous portion and extracting all the vitamins, minerals and micronutrients in the plant.
